Are there any harmful ingredients in Elf Makeup? I'm tempted to buy some off the site, but I dont recognise some of the ingredients. Any help, anyone? I just want to know if they will harm the skin (long or short term!)
KestrelElf Makeup -- Ingredients Question?
i'm not sure. but i've read tons of reviews from people who study makeup..it's result/effect/how long it last..etc.
and none of them truely loves it, but many many recomended their nail polish (comes in 12 shades) so i tried it, and its REALLY is as great as they said. at $1 it is such a greaat deal, i recomend it. everything else doens't look good at all :/ i heard the brushes are hard and useless, and the makeup hasnt done any wonders. but you should try it out if you want, and form your own opinion about it. personally, i have only tried the nail polish and i love it, and i don't see myself buying anyhting else from their collection.
good luck XOXOElf Makeup -- Ingredients Question?
hello there
i was actually just on that site
anyways, to answer your question
YES
there is harmful stuff
in fact, i just did a speech on parabens, which is found in almost all of their products.
here is the speech i wrote, and all the info on it is true
The lush smell of orchids and coconut milk overwhelms your senses as you pop soft, frothy bubbles in your hands. Yes, this experience could be described as a sensational addition to your daily routine, but you never thought that those hundreds of shampooings, cream applications and deodorant uses, totaling 45 pounds of product per year could potentially change your life, for the worse.
Parabens are found in 90% of all products we use everyday. Check the bottle of your shampoo tomorrow. I promise you that it contains some form of paraben, be it methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl. Firstly, parabens are used as a preservative, usually in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. This chemical addition is cheap, effective and easily disguisable. Parabens are often disguised with names such as Methylben, methyl ester, benzoic acid, benzoate, and Aseptoform Butyl: the possibilities are endless. Manufacturers illegally twist these names, as in November 2006, a law was passed forcing companies to print a complete, detailed and accurate list of any ingredients; natural, chemical or medical. As if parabens themselves weren’t bad enough, lying about it is worse. It fails to compel the sense of trust the consumer holds upon the producer when they purchase the product off the shelves of Shoppers Drug Mart. We deserve better. We need better. We will not stand for the oppression of human trust. We deserve to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Yes, you know parabens are bad for you, but is it enough just to know that one simple, known fact? No, it is not, as Aldous Huxley once said: “Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.” It is a well known medical fact that breast cancer is stimulated by estrogen. Knowing that, wouldn’t you want to do everything you could to protect yourself from this deadly disease, affecting 1 out of 9 women? What if I told that parabens mimic your body's own hormones and can disturb the action of your endocrine system, potentially causing breast cancer. Changed your mind yet? In a recent Canadian study, 19 out of 20 breast tumors examined had high amounts of parabens in them. If breast cancer doesn’t turn you off parabens, what if you knew that parabens affect your hypothalamus, your ovaries, your thyroid, and virtually every single organ system in your body. Parabens also influence development of malignant melanoma, and can also affect the male reproductive system when newborns are exposed to butylparaben. Remember those science labs where we were told to dissect animals? Think about the putrid formaldehyde used to preserve their bodies. Parabens are just as irritating as this harmful chemical. Would you want to put something with an equivalence to formaldehyde on your face, twice a day, 365 days in a year? Skin absorbs everything 10 times stronger than anything taken orally, and everything your skin absorbs goes directly to your blood stream.
Ah, cosmetics, we love them. Last year alone, we spent 17 billion dollars on our makeup, shampoos, conditioners, cleaners, and creams, just to name a few. Unfortunately, parabens come into the picture with the gross majority of these products. I’m not going to nag you to throw out your Herbal Essences, Revlon and Estee Lauder, but I urge you to make yourself aware. Read the label on the back of your cream, purchase naturally and locally, and take every precaution you can. And, as Albert Shweitzer once said, every patient carries his or her own doctor inside. Prescribe yourself the right opinion
SOOO, if you ask me, its not worth the risk.
